JR Central Group and Hilton Partnership Leads to September 14 Rebranding and Opening of Hilton Takayama Resort
JR Central Hotels and Hilton have entered into a partnership, and Hilton Takayama Resort opened under its new brand on September 14, 2026.

Joseph Khairallah, Area Vice President and Head of Japan, Korea and Micronesia, Hilton
“We are honored to open Hilton Takayama Resort, Hilton’s first property in Gifu Prefecture, through our partnership with JR Central. Together with Conrad Nagoya, which recently opened, the launch of this hotel demonstrates Hilton’s continued growth in the Tokai region. By leveraging the reach of Hilton Honors, our guest loyalty program with more than 260 million members, we will introduce more guests to the magnificent natural environment and cultural appeal unique to Hida Takayama while contributing to the creation of tourism demand.”
Shunsuke Niwa, President and Representative Director, Central Japan Railway Company
“JR Central is delighted to celebrate the opening of Hilton Takayama Resort. We have high expectations that our collaboration with Hilton, a global hotel brand, will deliver a new accommodation experience to guests in Takayama, an important destination for the JR Central Group. Takayama is one of Japan’s leading tourism destinations, offering abundant nature, history, culture and culinary attractions. We hope the hotel will serve as a hub connecting domestic and international guests with the local community, communicate Takayama’s appeal and contribute to further tourism development. The JR Central Group will continue working with local communities to enhance the appeal of areas along its railway lines and support regional development.”

A Space Combining Hida Traditional Crafts With Contemporary Design
The hotel’s spaces strongly reflect the region’s history and culture. The renovation concept is “Art of Mountain Folk,” expressing throughout the property the beauty created by Hida Takayama and the natural environment of the Alps. The lobby, which serves as the face of the hotel, was designed around the concept of the Takayama Festival. Its main motifs are the lavishly decorated festival floats of the Takayama Festival and tezutsu handheld fireworks soaring powerfully into the night sky. Their colors, dynamism and sculptural beauty have been reinterpreted through contemporary design.
The hotel offers 283 guest rooms across 10 categories, primarily 35-square-meter guest rooms and 46-square-meter deluxe rooms, including five suites. However, the hotel began operations with 91 rooms when it opened on September 14, 2026, and plans to increase the number of available rooms as renovation work progresses. All rooms are scheduled to become available in spring 2027.

Guest Room (Twin)
Each guest room incorporates features inspired by the Northern Alps, Takayama’s traditional events and local craftsmanship. Accent walls feature motifs based on Hida sashiko stitching, while Hida furniture retained from the hotel’s original opening creates the warm atmosphere of a mountain lodge.
Based on the concept of “NEO MINGEI,” the suites express the beauty embodied in mingei through furniture and artwork. They are also suitable for executives on incentive travel programs.

The 156-seat restaurant serves dishes made with ingredients from Hida Takayama through an extensive buffet and French course menus. Executive Western Cuisine Chef Koichi Uesugi has adopted “NATURE” and “FUN” as the restaurant’s concepts and aims to provide culinary experiences connecting the world with Hida Takayama.

For small executive dinners, the 14-seat Teppanyaki GAKU is another option. Chefs prepare premium ingredients, including top-grade A5 Hida beef, directly in front of guests, creating a live culinary experience that offers distinguished visitors the highest level of hospitality. A pairing with the hotel’s original white wine, developed in collaboration with a local winery, is also available.

At the 62-seat Lounge & Bar SCENERY, guests can enjoy coffee and afternoon tea in gentle sunlight during the day. At night, they can visit the intimate, hideaway-like bar area and enjoy distinctive cocktails such as a gin and tonic made with Hida sansho pepper and a Frozen Hida Colada.
