What kind of exhibition is CEATEC?
CEATEC is one of Asia’s largest comprehensive showcases of digital innovation, held every October. It is more than a technology trade fair: its guiding principle is “co-creation,” generating new value through collaboration that transcends industry boundaries. Positioned as a strategic platform, CEATEC explicitly targets the realization of Japan’s national vision “Society 5.0,” pursuing both economic growth and solutions to social challenges.
A major turning point in 2016: CEATEC’s current form
CEATEC traces its roots to the “Electronics Show,” a home-appliance fair that began in the 1960s. In 2000, it merged with information and communications exhibitions to form CEATEC. A decisive shift came in 2016, when the concept was relaunched as a “CPS/IoT Exhibition.” The focus moved from displaying individual products to presenting solutions that show how technology can address societal issues—setting the course for what CEATEC is today.
Designed to foster co-creation
The venue is organized into theme-based “parks” that are structured to intentionally produce collaboration. In the “Partners Park,” companies and government bodies jointly present approaches to social problem-solving. The “Next Generation Park” spotlights startups and universities, facilitating matching with large enterprises. From electronic components to finished products, services, and even public policy, multiple layers of the ecosystem gather under one roof. A rich conference program featuring industry leaders and the CEATEC AWARD, which recognizes noteworthy technologies, both play key roles in broadcasting Japan’s technology trends domestically and internationally.
Recent developments
In 2024, exhibitor numbers reached a record high and visitor attendance recovered to pre-pandemic levels. AI emerged as a central theme across the show, and the concurrent schedule with the Japan Mobility Show BIZWEEK symbolized cross-industry collaboration. While the U.S. CES often centers on new product launches and Germany’s IFA has a strong consumer electronics market character, CEATEC has established a distinct position by emphasizing societal implementation and problem-solving.
CEATEC 2024: Key results (official press release)
CEATEC 2024 was held at Makuhari Messe from October 15 to 18 under the theme “Innovation for All.” Marking its 25th edition, the show gathered 808 exhibitors and hosted 203 conference sessions alongside a range of networking programs. Co-located with JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW BIZWEEK 2024, the event further broadened cross-industry collaboration. Over four days, registered attendance reached 112,014—up 25.8% year on year—with participants spanning companies, government ministries and agencies, research institutions, and students. Featured exhibitor highlights

Yamada Homes: Proposing “SMART” living, all in one
At the “Lifestyle DX Pavilion,” Yamada Homes collaborates with nine partner companies to present future-ready housing. “SMART” encapsulates five values—Sustainable, Modular, AI, Resilient, and Technology—made tangible through experiential displays. The exhibits visualize environmental technologies, modular design, AI integration, disaster resilience, and IoT-enabled quality of life. Cross-functional mechanisms spanning insulation, seismic performance, energy, and IoT are showcased alongside group-wide synergies connecting homes, equipment, and consumer electronics, proposing a new living standard that addresses carbon neutrality and disaster preparedness.

Mitsubishi Electric: A future of work powered by the Serendie digital platform
Under the theme “Be yourself at work — innovations born with Serendie,” Mitsubishi Electric centers its booth on the Serendie digital platform, introducing interactive demonstrations that combine diverse data with AI. Proprietary sensors estimate indicators such as “concentration” and “drowsiness,” while AI coordinates HVAC, lighting, and autonomous mobile robots to create comfortable office spaces. The booth also presents a vision of next-generation factories leveraging AI and IoT, plus XR demonstrations that deliver glasses-free volumetric viewing. Through these initiatives, Mitsubishi Electric illustrates a people-centric future of work across offices and factories.

Autonomous mobility example at CEATEC: “xAUTO” Level 4 driverless service launching for resorts
Starting in October, the “xAUTO” autonomous mobility service will roll out for resort properties with fully driverless operation from dispatch to in-service driving. Aimed at alleviating labor shortages across large-scale tourism facilities, the system’s proprietary operations control coordinates multiple vehicles and automates everything from booking to dispatch, with intuitive reservations via smartphone. Safety is reinforced through LiDAR-based obstacle detection and a proprietary fog-mitigation function. The service is planned to be exhibited at CEATEC 2025, with future expansion to commercial facilities and smart-city deployments envisioned to support regional revitalization and a more sustainable society.

Preparatory Office for the Consortium for Residential Devices Co-Creation: Turning homes into logistics infrastructure — automated storage system “ENNOSHITA”
At CEATEC 2025, the Preparatory Office for the Consortium for Residential Devices Co-Creation will showcase “ENNOSHITA,” an automated storage system that utilizes under-floor space and autonomous mobile robots to stow parcels automatically, aiming for zero redeliveries and zero theft risk. A full-scale mock-up will demonstrate models for detached houses—integrated with delivery-robot ports and drone ports—and for condominiums, which leverage underground trunk rooms and dedicated elevators in a “logistics gateway” concept. The initiative targets both logistics efficiency and resident convenience as a pathway to addressing broader social challenges.

Kawamura International: Showcasing the AI translation platform “XMAT” and end-to-end solutions
Aligned with the show theme “Innovation for All,” Kawamura International, Inc. presents “XMAT,” a translation platform offering monthly unlimited access to multiple AI translation engines, including those from OpenAI and “Minna-no Jidō Hon’yaku @KI,” alongside domestic (Japan-made) engines. The booth highlights solutions that streamline the entire translation process, such as file translation, video transcription, automation-driven cost reductions, training-data creation, and engine customization. Visitors can experience practical support covering pre- and post-translation workflows and explore opportunities to scale their businesses.

Anritsu: Marking 130 years — “Taking on challenges together with Anritsu”
Anritsu Corporation celebrates its 130th anniversary with exhibits addressing social issues in communications, mobility, and safety. The booth features autonomous-driving test solutions for EV development, including simulations for batteries, drivetrains, and control of in-vehicle communication units. For the food industry, Anritsu introduces X-ray inspection systems with AI-based decision functions that target higher detection accuracy and fewer false positives. Joint exhibits also cover testing for satellite and drone communications. On October 17, a conference session titled “Building the Cars of the Future” will present solutions that accelerate EV development and contribute to a more sustainable future.
