PokéPark KANTO will become Pokémon’s first permanent outdoor facility, developed on a site of approximately 2.6 hectares within Yomiuriland. The opening has been set for spring 2026, with ticket sales to begin in phases from autumn 2025.
The name “KANTO” is derived from the first region introduced in the Pokémon video games Pocket Monsters Red and Green (released internationally as Pokémon Red and Blue). The facility is positioned as a place where the world of Pokémon comes into the real world.
What Is PokéPark KANTO
PokéPark KANTO is described as a Trainer’s Area where visitors embark on an adventure through a forest and a town inhabited by more than 600 Pokémon. The park is designed to offer Trainers of all ages opportunities for discovery and exploration, with Pokémon-themed environments integrated into natural outdoor settings.

Pokémon Forest: Home to a Wide Variety of Pokémon
Pokémon Forest stretches approximately 500 meters in length and features a variety of outdoor pathways, including tunnels, mountain trails, uneven terrain, and grassy areas. The route is designed to encourage exploration while moving through natural surroundings.
Within the forest, visitors can observe Pokémon primarily associated with the Kanto region as they interact with one another. The setting allows Trainers to encounter scenes where Pokémon appear to engage in activities such as battling or sharing Berries, offering opportunities to watch their behavior at close range.
A large number of Pokémon are said to inhabit Pokémon Forest, and searching for them as one moves through the area is positioned as one of the key elements of the experience. According to official information, the forest environment is intended to provide moments of discovery throughout the walk, with different Pokémon appearing along the route.

Kayatsuri Town: A Place for New Encounters
Kayatsuri Town is planned as an area where a range of Pokémon-themed facilities and experiences are brought together. The town will feature the Pokémon Trainers Market, a Pokémon Center, Friendly Shop, Gym, as well as a Greeting Parade where Pokémon gather, along with additional attractions.
According to official information, Kayatsuri Town is positioned as a central hub within PokéPark KANTO, offering opportunities for visitors to encounter Pokémon, explore themed retail and facilities, and experience a variety of activities in one area.
A trailer introducing PokéPark KANTO was released on July 22 as part of Pokémon Presents, providing the first visual overview of Kayatsuri Town and the overall concept of the park.

Establishment of PokéPark KANTO LLC for the PokéPark KANTO Entertainment Project
Based on a press release issued on December 12, 2023, The Pokémon Company announced the launch of a new entertainment project, PokéPark KANTO, in collaboration with Yomiuriland Co., Ltd. and Yomiuri Shimbun Tokyo Headquarters.
To advance this initiative, the three companies established a joint venture, PokéPark KANTO LLC.
A Pokémon World Set Within a Nature-Rich Landscape
PokéPark KANTO will be developed within the grounds of Yomiuriland, located in the Tama Hills area of the Kanto region, known for its natural, hilly terrain. The name “KANTO” reflects both the real-world location in the Kanto area of Japan and the Kanto region featured in the first Pokémon video games, Pocket Monsters Red and Green, released in 1996.
Creating a Gathering Place for Pokémon Fans Worldwide
According to the announcement, the project aims to produce a space where Pokémon fans from around the world can feel close to Pokémon while enjoying a natural environment. The concept emphasizes a shared experience that transcends national borders, regions, and languages, allowing visitors to spend time together in a setting where Pokémon are integrated into the surrounding landscape.
A New Challenge Built on an Ongoing Partnership
The Pokémon Company and the Yomiuri Group have collaborated on a range of initiatives over many years. With Yomiuri Shimbun Tokyo Headquarters, joint projects have included the long-running newspaper feature “Let’s Learn Proverbs with Pokémon!” launched in 2009, as well as the Pokémon Ryuo Championship, a Pokémon battle tournament held since 2014.
In addition, collaboration with Yomiuriland Co., Ltd. began in 2021 with Pokémon Wonder, a nature-based adventure experience that allows visitors to interact with Pokémon in an outdoor setting. Building on these established partnerships, the companies are now moving forward with the creation of a new form of entertainment through PokéPark KANTO.
