INSPIRE Entertainment Resort in Incheon Is More Than a Casino — Exploring the Strength of “Integrated Operations” That Support MICE [Korea 2025 Autumn Feature 4]

Osaka’s Integrated Resort (IR), scheduled to open in 2030, has attracted significant attention in Japan. In seeking insight into how such a development may function in practice, we conducted on-site coverage of INSPIRE Entertainment Resort in Incheon, South Korea, which has emerged as a leading case study in the region.

What does “integrated operations,” a defining characteristic of IR developments, look like in reality? This article introduces the resort’s operational framework together with an overview of its facilities, with a particular focus on how it supports MICE activities.

INSPIRE Entertainment Resort

INSPIRE Entertainment Resort (hereafter referred to as “INSPIRE”) is an integrated resort that opened at the end of 2023. In addition to its casino and other entertainment facilities, the property includes five-star hotels, state-of-the-art convention facilities, and a large-scale arena. Since its opening, it has drawn attention as one of Asia’s notable IR developments.

It is also important to clarify what an integrated resort (IR) represents. While IRs are often equated with casinos, their core concept extends beyond gaming. An IR is defined as a large-scale, multi-use tourism complex that integrates a range of facilities — including hotels, convention centers, entertainment venues, retail, and dining — with casino revenue serving as one component of the broader business model.

Approximately 15 Minutes by Complimentary Shuttle from Incheon International Airport, 5 Minutes by Taxi

The resort is located on Yeongjong Island, adjacent to Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport. From central Seoul, it takes approximately 50 minutes via the Airport Railroad Express (A’REX). From Terminal 2, INSPIRE can be reached in around 15 minutes by complimentary shuttle bus, or approximately 5 minutes by taxi, offering convenient access for international travelers.

For visitors arriving from Japan, flight time is about 2 hours from Osaka and approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes from Tokyo.

Potential MICE Venues Within the Resort

During our visit, we were introduced to several facilities within the resort that can serve as potential MICE venues.

One of the defining features of INSPIRE is that its accommodations, convention facilities, arena, and casino are all operated under an integrated management structure. The total site area spans 461,661 square meters, equivalent to approximately 64 soccer fields.

When the editorial team toured the property, the scale of the development was immediately apparent.

Event Space: One of the Largest Column-Free Ballrooms in a Hotel in South Korea

The resort features a ballroom with a maximum capacity of 3,000 attendees. With a ceiling height of approximately 7.4 meters — equivalent to about three stories — the space offers an open and expansive atmosphere. The total floor area measures approximately 27,760 square meters and can be divided into eight function rooms.

The venue is designed as a flat, single-floor layout, making it suitable for dynamic staging such as automobile launches, large-scale equipment exhibitions, and ceremonies incorporating advanced visual production.

In addition, the property includes mid-sized boardrooms accommodating between 40 and 850 participants, as well as studio spaces. In total, there are 21 rooms of varying sizes, allowing the venue to support a wide range of events, from large-scale international conventions to corporate events and trade shows.
A 24-hour Business Center provides services including copying, scanning, and fax support. Multilingual staff are stationed on-site to assist with MICE operations, including events involving international participants.

At the time of our visit, an event utilizing the entire floor was underway.

The facility has two separate lobby areas: one directly connected to the event space and another designated for general visitors.

INSPIRE Arena: A 15,000-Seat Multi-Purpose Venue for Concerts, Tournaments, and Award Ceremonies

INSPIRE Arena has a total floor area of 16,136 square meters and offers seating for up to 15,000 guests. The venue hosts a wide range of events, including performances by international pop artists and K-pop acts, award ceremonies, sporting events such as basketball, boxing, and mixed martial arts, e-sports tournaments, and large-scale exhibitions.

The seating layout and sightlines have been designed to optimize audience experience. Even from the last row, the distance to the stage is approximately 75 meters, allowing attendees throughout the arena to maintain a clear view of the performance.

At the entrance stands the Rotunda, featuring a large chandelier composed of 156 kinetic LED panels.

On February 22, 2026, Japanese singer Seiko Matsuda is scheduled to hold her first concert in South Korea at the arena. The venue has also hosted performances by Japanese artists including Kenshi Yonezu, Naniwa Danshi, and YOASOBI.

Splash Bay: An All-Weather Water Park Adaptable as an Event Venue

Splash Bay is an indoor, all-weather water park designed for year-round use, operating 365 days a year.

The central area features a DJ booth and a lifting pool system that allows the water depth to be adjusted as needed. This flexible configuration enables the space to be considered as a unique event venue option. The maximum capacity is approximately 900 guests in a theater-style setup and around 560 guests for a seated dinner.

The venue is suited to brand events, VIP showcases, and poolside receptions, offering a setting that supports entertainment-oriented event production.

Experiential Facilities That Further Enhance the MICE Offering

Foreigners-Only Casino: Positioned as a Driver of the Overall IR Ecosystem

The resort’s foreigners-only casino features approximately 150 table games and around 390 slot machines, and is regarded as one of the largest facilities of its kind in South Korea.

The primary target markets are visitors from Japan and China. According to the resort’s explanation, the casino is positioned as a mechanism that supports and stimulates overall revenue across the integrated resort. Japanese-language tour guidance and game explanations are available, reflecting a support system designed to accommodate international guests.

Aurora: A 150-Meter-Long, 25-Meter-High Immersive LED Tunnel

One of the resort’s signature features is “Aurora,” a vast indoor passage measuring approximately 150 meters in length and 25 meters in height. The entire space is covered with LED displays, transforming the ceiling and walls into a fully immersive visual environment.

At scheduled times, a show of approximately three minutes is presented, filling the corridor with synchronized visual content that draws the attention of visitors.

In coordination with MICE events, the LED surfaces — including the overhead screens — can be customized to display corporate logos or original branded content. This capability enables organizers to incorporate high-impact promotional elements into their event design.

Le Space: An Immersive Digital Art Experience Inspired by the Galaxy and the Universe

Le Space is an immersive digital art facility themed around galaxies, planets, and outer space. The venue showcases advanced LED technology and sound systems to create a multi-sensory experience.

The spherical installation shown in the photograph is also composed of LED panels, with detailed visual rendering that enhances the realism of the display.

From the floor to the ceiling and walls, the entire environment is constructed using cutting-edge technology, forming a fully immersive setting. As part of the resort’s experiential offerings, the space provides visitors with a distinctive digital art experience.

INSPIRE Mall: A Comprehensive Retail Complex Enabling Dining and Shopping Within the Resort

During breaks between meetings or in the evening, guests can complete dining, shopping, and entertainment activities without leaving the resort. The retail and leisure facilities are integrated within the property, offering convenience for MICE participants.

Oasis Gourmet Village: A 1,000-Seat Food Court Featuring International Cuisine

The resort includes a food court with approximately 1,000 seats. The venue offers a range of international cuisine, including pizza, burgers, Japanese dishes, and Chinese specialties.

We dined at the Korean restaurant “Eumureumjip” (romanized name based on on-site signage). Payment is accepted by credit card only. After placing an order, guests check the number printed on their receipt against monitors installed throughout the space.

Five-Star Hotel: 1,275 Rooms Supporting MICE Delegates

The hotel complex consists of three towers: Forest, Sun, and Ocean. Guestrooms range from standard rooms to suites and private villas, accommodating a broad spectrum of travelers, from corporate executives to general event participants.

The hotel infrastructure supports attendees visiting for conferences, incentive travel programs, and other MICE-related activities.

Editor’s Note: High-Quality Facilities Operated as a Unified Whole

The defining strength of INSPIRE Entertainment Resort lies in its ability to offer a fully integrated experience within a single destination. By combining multiple facilities that complement one another, the resort generates value that would be difficult to achieve through a standalone venue or hotel. Within the IR model, this structural integration has direct implications for the success of MICE events.

Each facility demonstrates a high level of completion and investment. The scale of the publicly accessible spaces, the extensive use of LED installations, and the carefully curated atmosphere across the food court and retail tenants all contribute to a cohesive environment. At the same time, the arena and convention facilities incorporate elements of sophistication and immersive design, creating an atmosphere that extends beyond functionality.

Even during a stay of approximately half a day, it was possible to sense that operations, management, sales, and marketing are organized under a unified framework. The integration of high-quality facilities appears to support consistency in both experience design and operational strategy.
