1,138 companies and organizations exhibit from 53 countries and regions

The number of exhibiting companies and organizations reached 1,138, surpassing the previous year’s record. Participants came from 53 countries and regions. At Makuhari Messe, new titles for a wide range of platforms, including home consoles, smart devices, PCs and VR, were on display. Game-related products and services, new solutions and limited-edition merchandise were also presented. The 30th-anniversary program included a keynote address, the “Japan Game Awards 2026 Future Division Announcement and Awards Ceremony,” and the “30th Anniversary Title Talk Stage,” featuring producers of game titles also marking their 30th anniversary.

Business meetings reach a record 3,673

Game business discussions were also active. The TGS Business Matching System was used for 3,673 meetings, a record high. The figure showed that TGS, which brings together many companies and organizations from Japan and abroad, plays a significant role as a business venue as well as a place to announce and experience games.

25 official programs streamed worldwide

TGS streamed 25 official programs online. Alongside YouTube, X, Twitch and Niconico, it worked with DouYu and bilibili for audiences in China and IGN for audiences in Europe and North America. Combining the in-person venue with online broadcasts enabled information to reach audiences overseas.

September 21 in-person program canceled; official programs move online

The in-person program at Makuhari Messe on September 21, 2026, was canceled as Typhoon No. 25 approached. Official programs that could be produced safely without visitors were to be streamed as scheduled. “Red Bull Revenge” was scheduled for 10:30 a.m., followed by the TGS2026 closing stage at 3 p.m. Some exhibitors were also set to stream online.

Tokyo Game Show 2027 scheduled for September 16 to 20

The next Tokyo Game Show is scheduled for five days from September 16 to 20, 2027, with Makuhari Messe again planned as the in-person venue. Although the final day of TGS2026 was canceled, both its 1,138 exhibitors and 3,673 business meetings set records. In its 30th-anniversary year, the figures again reflected the show’s international reach and scale as a business event.
