One of Japan’s largest machine tool trade fairs, Mechatronics Technology Japan (MECT) 2025 — October 22–25 at Port Messe Nagoya
Held in the manufacturing hub of Nagoya every odd-numbered year in autumn, Mechatronics Technology Japan (MECT) is one of Japan’s largest specialized exhibitions for machine tools and FA technologies. Marking its 20th edition, MECT2025 is slated to host a record 524 exhibitors, making it the largest machine tool trade fair in Japan this year. The show draws strong attention as a platform where practical, cutting-edge technologies converge to directly address challenges on the factory floor.

What is MECT: a biennial, practice-oriented trade fair supporting Japan’s manufacturing
Founded in 1987 by News Digest Publishing Co., Ltd., MECT is a specialized trade fair for machine tools. It follows a consistent format, taking place in autumn of odd-numbered years at Port Messe Nagoya in Nagoya City, and—alongside the even-year Tokyo event Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF)—is regarded as one of the two major trade fairs underpinning Japanese manufacturing. The organizers are News Digest Publishing Co., Ltd. and the Aichi Machine Tool Dealers’ Association.
Geographic advantage rooted in the Chubu region
Nagoya, the venue city for MECT, is the center of the Chubu region, where world-class manufacturing industries—led by the automotive sector—are concentrated. Owing to this geographic profile, MECT has established an identity as a “more practical, shop-floor-oriented exhibition.” Visitors can efficiently find solutions to challenges at their own factories, while exhibitors benefit from an effective matching environment geared toward concrete business discussions with prospective customers.

Products on display and the high level of visitor expertise
At MECT, exhibits span the full spectrum of FA technologies, including machine tools, forming and sheet-metal processing machines, injection molding machines, 3D printers, industrial robots, cutting tools, measuring instruments, CAD/CAM/CAE, and control devices and related software. At the previous MECT2023, technical roles such as manufacturing, design, production engineering, and R&D accounted for 62.5% of visitors—signaling that many attendees come not merely to browse but to gather information directly connected to their work and to track the latest technological trends.

MECT2025: record-high number of exhibitors
MECT2025 marks the 20th edition and will reach record levels in both exhibit scale and exhibitor count.
Event outline and access information; Aonami Line adds extra trains during the show
MECT2025 will be held for four days from Wednesday, October 22 to Saturday, October 25, 2025, across Halls 1, 2, and 3 of Port Messe Nagoya. Opening hours are 10:00–17:00, with the final day (Saturday, Oct. 25) closing at 16:00. The number of exhibitors will reach an all-time high of 524 companies and organizations, with the exhibit scale at 2,092 booths—the second largest to date—likely making it the largest machine tool trade fair in Japan this year.
In total, 281 machine tools and forming/sheet-metal machines—large and small—are expected to be displayed, with 554 new products (announced within the past year) slated for exhibition. As road and parking congestion is anticipated around the venue, visitors are encouraged to use public transportation. The Aonami Line, which connects Nagoya Station and Kinjofuto Station, will add 12 extra services over the three days from Wednesday, October 22 to Friday, October 24. Admission is ¥1,000 for adults and ¥500 per person for groups of 10 or more; however, preregistered visitors, overseas visitors, and students are admitted free of charge.
Newly established zone and pointers for solving challenges
MECT2025 adopts the theme “Kono hakken, geki-atsu!!!!” (“This discovery is red-hot!!!!”), indicating its role as a frontline venue for solutions—such as automation and digital transformation technologies—to issues facing Japanese manufacturing, including labor shortages and productivity gains. As an effort to broaden the industry base, a new “SME & Startup Zone” will be created for companies with 50 or fewer employees or established within the past 10 years. The aim is to foster encounters with innovative technologies and products that address specialized needs.

Sensory, hands-on highlights: the Concept Zone and specialized seminars
One of MECT’s defining features is organizer-led special exhibits where visitors can experience technologies that cannot be conveyed through websites or catalogs alone.
Exploring “processing techniques that support medicine” in the Concept Zone
The organizer’s special exhibit, the Concept Zone, takes on live demonstrations of the world’s most advanced technologies at every edition. At MECT2025, the theme is “Processing Techniques Supporting the Medical Field — Success Hints Learned from Other Industries.” In a special venue inside Exhibition Hall 3, machine tools will be brought in for live machining demonstrations by three companies that have cultivated advanced processing technologies. Planned demonstrations include: die and mold machining techniques for micro parts used in laparoscopic surgical instruments (forceps); mirror-finishing techniques for molds that create microfluidic channels—highly regarded in drug discovery and the medical field—together with an automated process enabling unmanned production of molded parts; and a new integrated production method on a multitasking machine for complex-shaped workpieces modeled on orthopedic implants using a titanium alloy with high biocompatibility. Visitors can engage their senses directly with the latest processing know-how—“machine motion,” “machining sounds,” and “setup methods.”
Organizer seminars discussing the future of industry
Organizer seminars will be held for three days from Wednesday, October 22 to Friday, October 24, in the Conference Hall on the 3rd floor of the Exchange Center. The seminars will feature six lecturers well-versed in the fields of “Automotive,” “Aerospace,” and “Advanced Factory,” presenting cutting-edge case studies and future visions of manufacturing. Speakers are slated to include experts from well-known companies and organizations such as Toyota Motor, Mazda, Boeing, Interstellar Technologies, Hitachi, and HILLTOP. Attendance is free of charge, but separate advance visitor registration is required.

MECT2025 drives manufacturing DX and practical problem-solving
Mechatronics Technology Japan 2025 is the largest odd-year exhibition in Japan and a critically important event for the country’s manufacturing industry, with a record 524 exhibitors. Bringing together the latest solutions—such as machine tools, automation systems, and DX technologies—MECT2025 offers concrete, shop-floor-ready insights and future technology trends through its Concept Zone themed “Processing Techniques Supporting the Medical Field” and seminars led by experts from various industries. As a venue where highly purpose-driven visitors meet innovative technologies, MECT2025 will help propel further technological innovation and revitalization across Japanese manufacturing.
