“Meet Legendary Pokémon: Legend Research in Nihonbashi & Yaesu” Now Underway, With More Than 100 Pokémon Appearing Around the City

“Meet Legendary Pokémon: Legend Research in Nihonbashi & Yaesu,” an event spanning the entire Nihonbashi and Yaesu districts, began on September 9, 2026. The event commemorates Pokémon’s 30th anniversary and runs through November 29. More than 100 Pokémon are appearing inside and outside buildings throughout Nihonbashi and Yaesu, alongside an activity combining a city walk with puzzle-solving.

More Than 100 Pokémon in Nihonbashi and Yaesu, Including 19 Statues

During the event, more than 100 Pokémon, including Legendary Pokémon from the Pokémon video game series, are appearing throughout the Nihonbashi and Yaesu districts.

Nineteen of them are displayed as statues. A total of 11 statues appear in the Nihonbashi area, including Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Lugia and Ho-Oh. Eight statues, including Xerneas and Yveltal, are installed at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. At COREDO Muromachi 1, the entire surface of the second-floor windows facing Chuo-dori is decorated with the event’s key visual. Along Muromachi Naka-dori, lanterns featuring Pokémon illustrations line a stretch of approximately 50 meters.

Paid Puzzle-Solving Walk Through Nihonbashi and Yaesu Created by Ryogo Matsumaru’s RIDDLER

The paid activity “Pokémon Legend Research: Awaken the Legendary Research Report!” is also underway. It was created by RIDDLER, a group of puzzle creators led by Ryogo Matsumaru. Participants walk through Nihonbashi and Yaesu, searching for Pokémon as they progress through the story.

Registration for the puzzle-solving activity is on the first floor of Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower. Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekends and public holidays. Vouchers redeemable for a puzzle kit cost 3,300 yen and will be sold through November 29. The Pokémon statues and decorations around the districts can be viewed free of charge.

Designed for Pokémon Newcomers and First-Time Puzzle Solvers

While creating the puzzles, Matsumaru replayed titles ranging from Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

The activity can be enjoyed without prior knowledge of Pokémon, while those familiar with the series will find elements recalling scenes and motifs from the games. A website offering hints in stages is also available for first-time puzzle solvers.

Original Merchandise and Artwork Featuring 53 Pokémon at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu

The Legend Research Merchandise Corner is located on the fifth floor of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. It offers 12 types of original merchandise featuring the key visual created especially for the event, including T-shirts, mugs and acrylic keychains.

“Thinking About Art and Environmental Education With Pokémon in Yaesu” is also scheduled for September 18–27. The exhibition will feature artwork depicting 53 Pokémon, created by Tama Art University students using unwanted items, scrap materials and other discarded resources.

Exploring Nihonbashi and Yaesu While Searching for Pokémon

A defining feature of the event is that it is not confined to a single facility. Instead, the entire Nihonbashi and Yaesu area serves as its field. Mitsui Fudosan aims to encourage visitors to discover places they do not usually visit and previously unnoticed attractions of the districts as they walk around searching for Pokémon.

Viewing the statues and decorations around the city is free. If you are planning to visit Nihonbashi or Yaesu, taking a slight detour and searching for Pokémon instead of heading directly to your destination may reveal a different side of these familiar districts.
