Nagoya–Ise-Shima Restaurant Train Les Saveurs Shima Completed; Service Begins Nov. 1, 2026, With General Sales Starting Sept. 1 — Interior Layout, Menus and Timetable
Les Saveurs Shima, a restaurant train connecting Kintetsu-Nagoya and Ise-Shima, has been completed. Following approximately eight months of conversion work that began in January 2026, the train will begin service on Nov. 1. French cuisine featuring ingredients from Mie and Ise-Shima will be served onboard, with a French course meal offered in Car 4 and a French set meal in Cars 1 and 2. General sales will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 1.

Les Saveurs Shima is a restaurant train planned by Kintetsu Railway Co., Ltd., Kintetsu Miyako Hotels International, Inc. and Kintetsu Retailing Co., Ltd.
Conversion work began in January 2026 and continued for approximately eight months. The train has now been completed ahead of the start of service on Nov. 1. It will operate between Kintetsu-Nagoya and Ise-Shima six days a week in principle, with service offered seven days a week during some seasons.
“Saveurs” means “tastes” or “flavors” in French. The name evokes the flavors created by Ise-Shima’s diverse ingredients and describes a train on which passengers can travel between Nagoya and Ise-Shima while enjoying a meal.

The exterior uses deep blue and white to express the sense of openness created by Shima’s sea, white sand and sun. The blue sections feature metallic paint that changes color depending on how the light strikes them. The emblem on the front is illuminated from behind by LED lights.

Interior layout
The train consists of four cars. French set meals will be served in Cars 1 and 2, while French course meals will be offered in Car 4. Car 3 contains a kitchen and counter.
Car 1 has five tables with twin seats for two passengers each, providing a total capacity of 10. It also includes three wheelchair spaces, a wheelchair-accessible restroom, a women’s restroom, a wash area, a powder room and luggage storage. Car 2 accommodates 24 passengers, with 10 tables featuring twin seats for two and four single-seat tables. Each twin seat is positioned at an angle to the window so passengers can enjoy the passing scenery. Wood-grain partitions are installed between the seats. Car 4 has two salon tables for four passengers and four tables with twin seats for two, providing a total capacity of 16. The space, where the French course meal is served, features leather-upholstered, furniture-style chairs and indirect lighting. Electrical outlets are available at all seats except those on the aisle side of the salon tables in Car 4. Free Wi-Fi is provided onboard.

The French course meal served in Car 4 is supervised by Hiroe Higuchi, executive chef of Shima Kanko Hotel.
The menu includes Kumano Jidori chicken confit and aosa seaweed quiche; abalone terrine served with marinated mushrooms and salad; and Mie Wagyu beef stew. The fish dish is seafood en papillote, prepared with Japanese spiny lobster, Ise madai sea bream and clams and paired with bouillabaisse. Dessert includes a citrus tartlet with ice cream, followed by petits fours such as nama chocolate, an Ise tea financier and a lemon macaron. Menu items may change depending on ingredient availability.

Cars 1 and 2 will serve a French set meal featuring ingredients from Mie and Ise-Shima. Kintetsu Miyako Hotels International is responsible for supervising the menu.

French set meal
The wooden box includes Parmentier-style Mie Wagyu with cabbage roulade; marinated pearl oyster adductor muscle and dried tomatoes; roast Ise Akari no Pork; Ise chicken ballotine with balsamic sauce and warm vegetables from Mie; and clam chowder with clams from Ise Bay. These dishes may also change depending on ingredient availability.

Timetable. The French course meal is available only on services departing Kintetsu-Nagoya and arriving at Ugata or Kashikojima.

General sales begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 1; French course meal starts at ¥33,000
General sales will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2026. Tickets for services operating in November and December will be released first. Thereafter, tickets for each month are scheduled to go on sale on the first day of the month three months in advance.
The tour price for the French course meal is ¥33,000 on weekdays and ¥36,000 on weekends and holidays. The French set meal costs ¥19,000 on weekdays and ¥21,000 on weekends and holidays.
The price includes a ticket covering travel between Kintetsu-Nagoya and the unlimited-travel zone from Ise-shi to Kashikojima, the meal, a welcome drink, an after-meal drink and applicable taxes. Other drinks are available for an additional charge.
Ahead of general sales, travel agencies including Club Tourism have been selling travel packages featuring Les Saveurs Shima since May 2026.

The symbol mark combines the rias coastline of Ago Bay with the image of a dining plate. Elements inspired by Ise-Shima have been incorporated into the train’s exterior, interior and cuisine.
